Short Films; Question 1-5.

Task one;

 

  1. A short film is defined as an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits. http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawards/rules/rule19.html.  Short films have been around in Britain since the 1930’s. http://www.screenonline.org.uk/film/id/1350979/ .Many short films have small budgets and often feature a plot twist. Some famous examples of short films are “The Black Hole” directed by Phil Sansom and Olly Williams. This is a short silent film which made its debut on YouTube, gathering around 8,000,000 in 2008.   2. Anybody can make a short film. However, there are many different reasons in which people make short films, for example some people may make short films for some experience so an individual may gather a team of people in order to help create their short film. Often short films also have a very small budget and cost a lot less than making a full length film.   3. Many short films can be funded by the Film Council, and the British Film Institute.   4. In order to make a short film successful it must include a variety of things. There must be a strong script and a strong story line/plot, a new, original idea, individuals considering making short films must also ensure they have a good set of actors taking part in the short, they must also make sure that they have considered how they are going to be funded and how they are going to fund the film. http://www.thefilmlot.com/articles/ARTsuccessfulshort.php.
